As the title suggests, this journal dedicates its space strictly to modern sonnets, only publishing in cycles of fourteen sonnets by fourteen authors, which creates a journal that is, in and of itself, “shaped” like a sonnet. While each poem also creates its own visual shape, there is a definite lean toward the traditional metered and rhymed sonnet; as a drawback, you will rarely find one that remains unrhymed or that reshapes the sonnet in a surprising way. Still, within these traditional bounds, the content is quite modern, creating a journal that pushes the sonnet to new intensities and asks us to revisit a cherished poetic form.
